Every night, Mira lit the lamp at the abandoned station. No train had stopped there for twelve years, but she still left a cup of tea beside the empty chair.

毎晩、ミラは廃駅のランプに明かりをともした。十二年間、ここに止まった列車は一つもなかった。それでも彼女は、空いた椅子のそばにお茶を一杯置き続けていた。

Tonight, there were two sets of footprints in the snow. One led to the door. The other stopped beside her own.

今夜、雪の上には二筋の足跡があった。一つは扉へと続き、もう一つは彼女自身の足跡のそばで途切れていた。

“You kept the light on,” a voice said. Mira turned, still holding the cup. “You said you would come back.”

「明かりをつけておいてくれたんだね」と声がした。ミラはカップを持ったまま振り返った。「帰ってくるって言ったでしょう」
