Comparison
Trancy alternative: LangBox compared
Updated · Written by LangBox, so read it as a vendor's comparison
Trancy is a language-learning extension and app centred on video: bilingual subtitles on YouTube, Netflix, HBO Max, TED, edX and Coursera, with AI grammar analysis, word lookup and speaking practice. LangBox also covers YouTube and Netflix, and puts more weight on reading (web pages, PDFs and EPUBs) and on dictation. This page sets out where each one fits.
Features of Trancy are listed only as its own site or store listing describes them; where it does not describe a feature, the table says so instead of guessing.
Video platform coverage and how speaking feedback works
Start with your sources and practice style. If you study on Coursera, TED, HBO Max, or mobile, or want Trancy's paid AI speaking coach and pronunciation evaluation, choose Trancy. In LangBox, YouTube shadowing only matches transcribed words to captions; separately, LangBox Podcasts provides pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation guidance rather than exam scores, alongside YouTube dictation and reading tools.

LangBox scope and preview limits
LangBox separates its desktop Chrome extension, browser tools, and learning app. In public preview, guests get 2M tokens once; accounts receive 10M every 30 days. PDFs require an account, up to 100MB and 100 pages, and remain for 24 hours. Full EPUB exports support DRM-free text under 10MB and do not preserve covers, images, or complex layouts.
