From English reading to useful review

Reading a translation and remembering a phrase are different tasks. First check the meaning, then hide the answer and recall it in a new sentence. You can try that here without signing in.

We had to put off the meeting until Monday.

“Put off” means postpone here. It does not mean cancel the meeting.

Complete the new sentence with the same phrase:

We had to _____ the trip until Friday.

put off — “We had to put off the trip until Friday.” Keep “until Friday”: it tells you the new time. Try making another sentence from your own plans.

Use the reading-to-review workflow

  1. Choose eligible material

    In extension settings, select English as the learning language, select a course and enable learning enhancement. Use an available LangBox managed model with credits. This capture path currently supports English learning, even though translation supports more languages.

  2. Read and check

    Translate a short supported webpage passage. Compare the original with the translation; use dictionary lookup to verify the expression in context. Do not send confidential material you are not permitted to share.

  3. Check the practice result

    Open Learning and the selected course. Eligible translated pairs are processed in the background, so acceptance is not an immediate promise of a new question. Inspect the actual question and its source; a word lookup alone does not guarantee a practice item.

  4. Answer before revealing

    Attempt the question, then read the feedback and submit the answer. The practice system uses your results to schedule review. Follow the due review queue rather than expecting a fixed interval or guaranteed mastery.

If nothing appears

  • Check the English learning language, course, learning-enhancement switch and remaining managed-model credits first.
  • Translations made with your own API key do not enter this automatic capture pipeline. Guest access is not unlimited; eligible managed access is still required.
  • Some translation surfaces intentionally do not capture learning material. For example, selected-text translation and the extension PDF viewer disable this capture path.
  • Processing, filtering or an unsupported passage can leave you without a new question. Keep your own short note and practice recall manually; do not repeatedly translate the same page just to force a question.
